History
Labrador Retrievers are originally from Newfoundland and worked with fishermen. Their descendents were also called the St. John's Water Dog.
Appearance
Strong, medium to large sized, athletic, weather resistent short coat, "otter" tail, a face with character and friendly eyes, well balanced, webbed paws for swimming.

Labrador Retrievers make excellent guide dogs, search and rescue, and law enforcement helpers. Labradors are usually easygoing with strangers and might not make a good guard dog. They are considered to be one of the most popular breeds in the world and are popular in the USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
