Doberman Pinscher

History

The Doberman Pinscher is said to have originated in Germany around 1900. A tax collector named Louis Dobermann wanted a companion guard dog and developed him from a Rottweiler, Beauceron, Black and Tan Terrier, German Pinscher and Shorthaired Shepherd.

Appearance

Medium sized, muscular and powerful, elegant, cropped and erect ears, wedge shaped head

Color and Coat

Single coat of smooth, short and thick coat. The colors are black, red, blue and fawn with rust colored markings.

Other Facts

Doberman Pinschers have a reputation due to bad stereotypes of aggression and ferocity. It is a large and intimidating dog but is obiedient to its family and a gentle, loving and intelligent breed. They should be socialized with other dogs from a young age.
