History
The Sheltland Sheepdog's history originates from the Border Collie of Scotland. It was transported to the Shetland Islands where it was bred with small, longhaird dog breeds and became a smaller dog. Shelties worked on the farm and guarded homes, herds and flocks from intruders.
Appearance
Small sized, alert, sturdy, long wedge shaped head, effortless gait
Color and Coat
Double coated, with long harsh and straight outer-coat. Colors of the Shetland Sheepdog include black, blue merle and sable. They are marked with white and/or tan.

Great family companion, loyal, affectionate, excitable, energetic
Other Facts
Because Shelties are herding dogs, they will try to bark at and herd people. They tend to be standoffish towards strangers and should be socialized from a young age. Shelties love to work physically and mentally and excel in agility and competitive exercises.
