History

The Australian Shepherd actually originated in the Pyrenees Mountains between Spain and France. They are associated with the Basque shepherds who came to America from Australian in the 1800s, but did not originate in Australia. They have had many names over the years.

Appearance

An intelligent breed that loves to work, medium sized, solid and muscular body, alert expression

Color and Coat

Medium length straight or wavy hair. Common colors include blue merle, black, red merle and red with white or tan markings.

Other Facts
