Pembroke Welsh Corgi

History

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi date back centuries and were brought to Pembrokshire, UK by Flemish weavers. They could be descendants of a mix of breeds including the Pomeranian, Keeshond, Samoyed, Chow, Norwegian Elkhound and Finnish Spitz. They have been used as farm and cattle dogs.

Strong, low set, bold attitude, foxy head, intelligent and interested expression, short legs

Color and Coat

Double coated, with medium length outer coat and a short thick undercoat, can be straight or slightly wavy. Colors include red, sable, fawn, black or tan, or a mixture, and can have white markings.

Other Facts

Pembroke Welsh Corgi's make great watch dogs because they are alert. They can be born with a tail or without. Some famous PWC owners are Queen Elizabeth II and Kendra Wilkinson.
